Nurturing Joyful Relationships in Families with Young Children (650) 242-5965
Young children love to be with their peers, but certain abilities are required for successful group experiences, such as:
Some children need more practice then others. Therapeutic group experiences offer a safe, structured environment for developing strong social-emotional skills. Social and emotional skills are the foundation for success in school and in life.
Preschool children learn best with their parents and caregivers close by so that they can have emotional support to translate new social skills to other environments.
Join a twelve-week interactive attachment-based child therapy group. This group is for children ages 4-6 with emotional, behavioral and /or developmental challenges. This parent participation group supports positive social-emotional development through joyful, playful peer and child and parent interactions . We will work on staying engaged, following routines and limits, social skills, managing frustration, impulse control and feeling secure and confident. A child therapy and support goup rolled into one!
Parenting is hard work, but when your children are very young the challenge can at times be overwhelming. This ongoing group is designed to offer a nurturing space for you to reflect on the experiences of parenting toddlers and preschoolers. Come prepared to listen and share at your own pace.
We will explore immediate parenting issues and connect them to your own childhood experiences and to your dreams for your child. This experience will inform your parenting practices. You will have the opportunity to envision the parent you want to be, your best self, and work toward that goal. Specific situations and current dilemmas will be carefully addressed by group members and the facilitator, an experienced marriage and family therapist who specializes in parenting and early childhood.
